2023 SUMMER
Q: Help! I’m on the waitlist and I really need this class to graduate/for my major! Can you help me enroll?
A: I’m afraid professors cannot change any enrollments. All of that is handled by the registrar. That said, there is a lot of turnover during weeks 0 and 1 (or in summer, the first week of classes), so if you’re #1 or 2 on the waitlist, you’re in a good position to get into the class. Make sure you have access to canvas and keep up with the class the first two weeks!
Q: Will your classes be online, in person, or hybrid? Synchronous or asynchronous?
A: Summer classes will be online and synchronous with the times listed in the course catalog (Pacific time). You can be physically anywhere in the world, but you do need to log in at the listed class time and turn on your camera. You may want to weigh whether or not you truly can learn content as well at 3am!
Q: Can I take a class that meets at the exact same time as your class?
A: Not a good idea given that classes are synchronous.
Q: If the final exam time is the same as another class’ final exam, can I reschedule?
A: Final exams are open for a 24-hour window, usually.
Q: What if I get sick in the middle of your class? What if I have a health/family emergency?
A: You should reach out to your college’s Dean of Student Affairs so that they can help you with all of your classes in one go. They are there to help you. If you explain your situation to them, you don’t need to tell any faculty any private details.
